District 3 Communication & Leadership Award
This award is the highest honor District 3 Toastmasters can bestow up a non-Toastmaster. It recognizes individuals within our communities who have demonstrated outstanding communication & leadership skills. Any member or club in good standing can nominate someone for this award.
This award is to be presented by District 3 at the Fall Conference in Tucson at the Saturday Leadership awards luncheon on November 10, 2012. This is the reason we are starting so early this year. Many good candidates may commit to Veterans Day activities and we have to secure our candidate early to avoid being shut out.
The recipient must:
- Reside within District 3 boundaries
- Agree, in advance, to attend the luncheon to receive the award and to speak
at the awards presentation
- Have made a significant contribution to the communities within District 3, through his/her
communication and leadership skills
- Not have previously received this award
- In addition, the Selection Committee should select a recipient whose stature and contributions facilitate the efforts of District 3 to generate publicity in the community for Toastmasters and promote Toastmasters attendance at the Spring Conference
A Communication and Leadership Award Selection Committee, comprising of at least three Toastmasters
will select the recipient based on the above criteria. Prior to the selection, clubs and individual
Toastmasters will be encouraged to make recommendations to the selection Committee.
The District will pay registration, meal, and travel expenses for the recipient.
Often we have recognized someone who has been a very deserving individual who has demonstrated great communication & leadership in the community or we have someone who can help us generate publicity & promote Toastmasters in our community.
I would like us to achieve both this year.
If you or your club wishes to nominate someone, the form should be filled out and submitted to the committee and received by 8/10/12. Those wishing to personally hand them in at the July Jubilee on the 28th would be acceptable.
Jim Davis, DTM-PDG
Communication & Leadership Award Chairman 2012-13
